The Harpers

Faction name: The Harpers
Faction type: Clan
Status: Defunct

Alignment: Neutral to good

Those Who Harp believed in the power of individuals, the balance between the wilderness and civilization, and the good of humankind and its allied creatures. Others called them "the meddlers of Faerun," and the comment is largely correct. All work for what they saw as good (though individual Harpers often sharply disagreed on just what "good" is), and most did so in a style that involved deception, misdirection, and covert action rather than open conflict.

The Harpers were a semi-secret, primarily good-aligned society that was allied with a number of good churches. They also received support from powerful neutral individuals, including from druidic circles. Their aim was to keep the dangers both of and to civilization at bay. The Harpers believed in the power of individuals, the balance between the wild and the civilized, and the good of mankind and its allied sentient races. They also believed in preserving the tales of the past, so that one might learn from these tales for the future. The Harpers attracted a wide variety of character types, but this society was most attractive to elves, rangers and bards. The Harpers were spread throughout the North and the Heartlands, and had no main base of operations. They often operated in secret, in small groups to achieve their ends. Except when battling long-term foes, it was unimportant for them if their name was connected with their actions.
