Timeline

This is the ***OLD*** Waterdeep Timeline. Retrieved from the abyssal depths of the internet. There's been some typo, grammar and sentence reconstructing by Ror, but the story has remained unchanged. Enjoy.

It remains unsure whether this is canon or not. If it was, the current year (2013) would be 1280.

-[ Prehistory ]-
In a time before time, before the creation of the Great Realms, the land known as The Training Grounds was home to another world, an elder god in training, only known as The Apprentice of Ao.

The Apprentice was a known wizard mercenary in the Shadowdale Area, back in the ancient days of Toril.  Fighting for the good of the people, a connection is found between major events of the time, and The Apprentice. After his death, he rose to the ranks of diety, and claimed the ladders of the gods, until he was noticed by Ao. Ao took him as his apprentice to become an elder god. After the basic training, the Apprentice would be given a piece of land, known as the Training Grounds, and given the task to create in his mind the perfect world. A test, to prove their worthiness. Should he succeed, he would become an elder god. By Ao's allowance, The Apprentice created his own world.

One hundred years pass before the Apprentice created his perfect world, and the day came for Ao to inspect his work. Ao appeared in the world, and to his suprised, it was total chaos. Ao looked around, as the forests burned and the rivers ran with blood. He found the Apprentice, insane, and drunk with power. It was something Ao had never detected when the Apprentice was a mortal, and later a god. The insanity was a major fault, and a reason why most gods were not given elder godhood. Ao approached The Apprentice, and attempted to take away his powers. But The Apprentice backlashed, showing signs that he had improved in his powers. And thus, the battle to end all battles began: the fight between Ao and The Apprentice.

There is no known history of this time, or even real folk tales, save this one story. Most speculate that the fight lasted many days, and in the end probably reshaped the continent. It was Ao who won the battle at the end..

As The Apprentice laid crippled on top of a mountain, he uttered his last words. The heart of a hero, the brain of a lunatic, he cursed Ao and the world of Toril. He vowed revenge on all, he vowed he would reclaim his land, and vowed he would continue until he controlled Toril and possibly more. A sign in the sky would mark his resurrection. Then The Apprentice died.

Ao uttered over the Apprentice a vow to stop him at all costs. Ao purged the Training Grounds of all life, and constructed a magical barrier around the land, hoping it would be too strong for The Apprentice. Ao left the Training Grounds and did not return again.

-[ Birth of the World ]-
A drow wizard and a human strider, complete strangers to each other, set sail together on a boat heading west to Menzera(sp?). In the process, the ship was thrown into a heavy storm, and the two travelers blacked out. When they awoke, they were in another land. The water was calm, the sky flashed with brilliant color, and the ship had run aground. The crew was dead, except for the two travelers, who gathered their wits and supplies, and set forth out into the land. The land itself was dead and bare with no sign of life, no trees, just a dark gray dirt. The two traveled further into the land that was a void of lifeless mass, until the supplies ran out. Their final resting place was next to a crick and as their corpses rotted, seeds from the left-over supplies began to grow. A form of life was born on this land north of Menzerba; there was now life on the former Training Grounds.

In the ranks of dieties, elder god ranks supreme over all. They were the masters of reality, the kings of the universe. It is thought that all planets have an elder god, or goddess, who is the creator of all life on their planet. And it is known that at times an elder god will take on an apprentice, usually a diety of the planet.  The diety is trained in the elder gods ways, and then set out into the universe.  In the world of Toril, the elder god is known as Ao.

Ao soon noticed that some sort of life had begun in The Training Grounds, a place where life had yet to begin. Upon his inspection he found the bodies of the two travelers and the empty seed pouches. For some odd reason he resurrected them to the highest status below that of elder god and gave them the Training Grounds as their own world. Thus, the Great Realms was born. Nisstyre Bloodstoner, God of Nightmares, and Teron Gorefiend, God of Order came to be. From then the gods set forth to build a world very familiar to their own, creating the races and all life in the Great Realms.

-[ Year 500 ]- The Year of Forgetfulness
After the great memory loss, there was a need for history. And since there wasn't any, all empires went to work to try and (re)create their history. A council re-recorded history since all knowledge and literature had vanished. Everything, including maps, had to be penned down once again, but eventually the work was done and all claims on lands settled. Life continued.

Documented history before the year 500 is gone, as if erased from the collective memory with only lingering thoughts surviving, enough to remember who you were. It happened on the first day of the new year. Only a rare few kept their memory, but chose to never speak of the history before the year 500. It is rumoured the cause was a great accident.

-[ Year 700 ]-
Two hundred years after the mystical accident, a massive portal opened over the Sea of Swords, east of the Great Realms, and the combined armies of Cyric and Talos sailed into the waters near the location where New Thalos would be. Thus The Great Power War began. This war, a basic fight against good and evil, ripped apart the lands and caused great chaos.  And with the arrival of Cyric and Talos true evil, which had been unknown until then, came as well.

100 years after the mystical accident, the world suddenly faced a full blown war, as of out of no where, Cyric, the prince of lies, and Talos, God of Destruction, marched a massive army of their followers, which seem to have appeared out of no where.  Along with Cyric and Talos's hoard of soldiers, other evils of the world sprang up, and began to march their armies.  And thus total chaos fell over the Great Realms, starting with the almost complete razing of Old Thalos, a large city near the eastern coast.

-[ Year 725 ]-
The supreme god of the planet, Ao, appeared before the deities at war and forced them to stop. The war ended and in a large meeting at Red Steel treaties were signed. The first treaty, known as the Guild Treaty, forced the armies into guilds, later known as clans. The second treaty ensured another army could not march into the lands by portal.

25 years into the war, a messenger of Ao appeared on the battle field, and halted all the armies.  The messenger declared that Ao commands for the armies to stop, that the army of Cyric and Talos had travelled from Toril, a known neighboring planet.  Two treaties were signed, the first known as The Great Wall Policy, the second known just as Guilds and Clans. The Great Wall Policy declared that no large masses could pass between the two planets, now revealed to be connected by a magical wall east of the Great Realms.  The Guilds and Clans Treaty turned all the armies into Clans, smaller groups of followers and soldier, to conduct the war in a more civilized manor.  All documents were signed at Castle Red Steel, by the heads of the empires, and even the gods.  The war ended, and life went on.

-[ Year 820 ]-

A massive plague breaks out in the northern Mahn'Tor Region, and began to slowly spread south and west.  By mid-year the entire continent was inflected with a this disease.  At the end of the year, research from a Wizards Group only known as The High Wizards of Sorcery lead to the cure.

95 years past without a major incendent, known as the century of peace and progress, as the empires and governments of the world grew.  Until  the year 820, when a massive plague fell onto the world.  Thousands died  as the world turn rancid, bodies lined the streets, foul odors filled  the air, the rivers ran with disease.  In the end the world was saved  by a Counsel of Wizards, who reside in the Tower of High Sorcery, in  the eastern realms.  The cure was passed to the world, and the survivors  rebuilt life once again.

-[ Year 934 ]-
The lifestream, the source of magic and mana that flows beneath the surface of the world, suddenly dries up and vanishes from the western continents.  This land, mostly ruled by wizards who gained their power over the nations with their own magical abilities, suddenly had no defense.  Thugs overtook power, and wizards were forced into hiding.

By the year 934 it was known that "The Lifestream" ran below the world, and was the source for magic and mana.  But unexpectedly it dried up under the western part of the Great Realms, an area less populated, but with larger cities, and concidered the eastern parts the backwoods.  Unfortuntaly the western parts were ran by wizards, and the lifestream had dried up, which allowed any lunatic with a sword to attempt to seize power over the empires.  And for a year the Ruling Wizards scattered into remote parts, and their reign taken over by whomever challenged and won.  The magic users were forced to team with a long known enemy, technology.  Bartering with the dwarves and their metals, they built a weapon known as a Castor, a projectile weapon which uses magical shells.  The shells when striking a victim would release a spell, usually the most powerful spell the wizard could use, when enough mana was collected.  The only defect in the weapon was to create enough mana, the user's life would also be used as a catalyst. High powered shells could easily cause death if used too often.  The wizards began a war with the tyrants who taken their empires, until it became clear that both sides were equal in strength.  And then the lifestream flowed again, and the wizards took their revenge, and their empires.

-[ Year 944 ]-
The lifestream drought lasted for ten years.  During this time the wizards had joined with another group they had hated for centuries, technology, and created a weapon that could cast magical spells by using a beings actual living energy.  This allowed the wizards to overtake the Thugs and reclaim their powers.  The war ended as the last wizard took his throne.

-[ Year 1000 ]-
Three Merchant Houses, The Figarians, The Heifongs, and The Vectors form the idea of better selling of goods, known as businesses.  A medieval stock market was born, and a "corporate" world began to grow, as some would say, like a cancer.

With the Western Great Realms now under control, the empires turned to the booming business of trading with each other.  By the year 1000 a unified Trade World was born, creating a mideval stock market.  And as the wizards in the west dreaded when they creating technical megical weapons, technology in a whole, boomed.  In the northern region, the Steam Engine was born, allowing carts and other things that rolled to move without animal power. Steam engines allowed for a better trade market, and better metals.  The world began to boom at a slow but steady pace.

-[ Year 1249 ]-
Along the eastern coastline, south of the Vectorian Nation, a small group of city-states ruled over the country.  Its governments, corrupted.  The citizens fed up.  A "new" government steps forth, and promises a peaceful and successful life, a better way of life.  The Group known as The Tripower Company, founded by Nisstyre Bloodstoner, Sid Deadwillow and Minli Nytek.  The people voted, and the Tripower took control of eastern lands south of Vector, forming into The Tripower Nation.

The eastern Great Realms had fallen into disrepair by the year 1249, as corrupted leaders ran now small city-states, sinking the people's money into their own affairs, to the point even most roads were impassible.  And so as the people cried out, the leaders came up with the brilliant idea to hold an election.  No one but the leaders dared to run in the election, since all the leaders had shady backgrounds, and most knew better, except for the Tripower Company.  A group combined of several wizards and scientists, living in the hills outside Olympus, ran against all the leaders.  They promised an improved life, and protection.  The leaders of the city-states attempted to stop the Tripower, but failed miserably.  And when the votes were counted by the people, The Tripower won, and thus the Tripower State was born.

-[ Year 1251 ]-
Steam Engines, a common thing for roughly ten years first applied to an "airship", or a converted sailing boat that was made to fly.  These airships burned too much fuel, and its weight made them inefficient.

The Tripower kept its word to the people, and set forth to rebuild the cities, roads and bridges, and to improve life as known.  The technical side of the Tripower began the research into the Lifestream. A smaller group of the Tripower began to research into flying machines, which would be an easier way of transporting.  In 1251 the first airship was born, crude using steam power, which required to be launched from a ramp to gain speed, due to the heavy mass.  Once in the air it could travel fast for a massive machine weighting tons, but in the end failed to archieve the goal of being faster.

-[ Year 1252 ]-
The combined efforts of The Nytek Corporation and The Tripower Company creates a structure called a Makou Reactor.  This structure and the equipment inside could harness the energy of the lifestream, the source of magic and mana, and turn it into a burnable gas.  This Makou Gas, has lead to a technological boom, easy cooking, easy heating, street lights, a "modern" age as its known.

The research in the lifestream led to the discovery like gold.  The liquid of the lifestream, compressed under massive amounts of pounds of steam, would turn into a burnable gas.  They created a massive tower structure, which would harvest and convert the lifestream into this new gas, dubbed Makou Gas.  The First Makou Reactor Tower was built totally underground, in a small Tripower mining town.  The reactor worked, and soon all the city-states enjoyed gas lighted streets, gas cooked food, and even iron boxes that could cool food. The year 1252 was known as the year of Luxury as the Tripower embraced their new technology, and how life became less complicated.

-[ Year 1253 ]-
The Tripower breaks ground past the mountain spine northwest of New Thalos on a new capital, dubbed Torregiano.

In 1253 the Tripower established themselves in Torregiano, a new city, now the capital of the Tripower, that was started when the Tripower gained control of the land.  The city had 4 Makou Reactors, providing enough makou gas for the city-states, and other "customers".  The Tripower Group that had invented the airship, was now working on a new engine, known as a Makou Combustion Magi-Tech Power Horse.  A new type of engine that ran on a form of Makou Gas, a new liquid state.  The discovery of a Makou Gas lighter than air had been discovered, which allowed for blimp style ballons to help with the weight problems of the airships. In 1255 the Tripower revealed its latest invention, The Airship.  The problems of the past were now gone, the ships were lighter, faster, and could haul massive loads of cargo across the continent.  And with this one invention, the World Trade Market exploded into pure chaos, as airships reign supreme over the trade world.

-[ Year 1255 ]-
After a year of testing, the Nytek/Tripower Company produces the Makou Combustion Engine (MCE).  This engine, more efficent and powerful than steam, combined with the new "steel" the Dwarven Kingdom had created, allowed airships to be lighter.  The new airship was a sucess, and the Tripower put them into mass production.  The next few years are known as The Airship Boom.

-[ Year 1256 ]-
In agreement with the newly Heifong Government, the Tripower sells the information of Makou Technology.  Heifong becomes the 2nd nation to build Makou Reactors.

In 1256 the Tripower sold off technology information to Heifong III, mainly the knowledge of the airships, and Makou Reactors.  Heifong was a region in the center of the continent, a real backwater area with few people, before the boom of the world market.  By 1256 it was a massive city, close to being larger than Torregiano of the Tripower. But they lacked the technilogical knowledge.  Deals were made, and they began to construct their own Makou Reactors.  In 1257 the Tripower Auctioned off this information to other nations, in limited amounts and on restricted contracts, that no one but the officals of the empires could read said documents.  The nation of Figaro purchased most of the books and documents, but Blue Haven and Sentinel purchased the rest. And so, Makou Technology was spread acrossed the Great Realms.

-[ Year 1257 ]-
The Makou Technology is sold to the Figaro Nation, making Figaro the 3rd Nation with a Makou Reactor.  A few years later, the technology was used by all the nations.  Airships reigned the skies, technology grew, life became good.  The next few years are typically called The Golden Years.

-[ Year 1264 ]- (1997)
RagNaRok.  A name unknown to everyone on the planet.  A warning was published by The Wizards of High Socery, the same which cursed the great plague of the 820s.  They claimed a large meteor, with a width the distance between Westbridge and New Thalos, was coming, and would come, and crash into Westbridge.  The Wizard Counsel then disappeared from excistance.  Some people heeded the warning, most scoffed at it.  But soon late into the year, a small red dot appeared in the sky.  The people watched as it slowly grew, until it became larger than the moon, sending a red glow over the land.  The aura it gave off began to mutate the wildlife, and life suddenly became dangerous, as the newly born beasts began to attack the cities.

The Wizards of the Tower of High Sorcery, known as the saviors of The Great Plague of 820ty, announced the coming of a giant meteor, that would appear in the sky, and cause great plagues and mass destruction. The Counsel of Wizards from this point vanished from the world.  Most believed these claims as false, or at the least a rumor, until the day. A giant glowing orb is sighted in the heavens.  Growing in size and furey everyday, scientist exaime the nature of the fanamina, and conclude the mass is a giant meteor, half way along its B-line to an appoitment with downtown Westbridge, and subsequent aniliation of the planet.  And they dubbed it RagNaRok.  It blocks the sun from the ice region of Mahn'Tor, and its actual glow covers the planet at night, like a red moonlight.

And the pestilence came.  In the forms of mutanted creatures, humans, drow, any race, any living creature, twisted by the powers of RagNaRok, crawled from the forests at night and attacked the towns and villages.  The people defend themselves.

The Tripower State went into action, and construction began on the largest godless created weapon known to the world.  Above the capital city of Torregiano a massive three ring structure was built, fifteen stories above, creating a bullseye look.  And then in peices being drawn from secret locations around the city began to be constructed on the three rings, until it was completed, forming a massive 50,000mm City Size Cannon, that rotated around the city.  Powered by what were known as The Torregiano Four, the 4 makou reactors of the city, it was a sight to see.  The cannon was dubbed "Stalin's Organ".

During the construction of Stalin's Organ, RagNaRok had come close enough to the planet that it could be travelled to, with the help of the fly spell, and an underwater breathing spell, to pass between the small gap of open space, between the atmosphere and the rock. They found the rock had its own air and gravity, and they explored the rocky outside.  The only structure found on the rock was an arch gateway into a small rock mountain.  Inside they found a chamber with four doors.  The door outside closed, and the four doors opened, and four creatures stepped out.  The first made of fire, the second made of wind, the third of water, and the last of earth.  The group engaged in battle.  The elements were killed, and their weapons take, a sword that contained the powers of the elements inside them.  They were called The Four Elemental Swords of RagNaRok.  Each killer of the element took his or her sword, and the group left RagNaRok.  The reign of mutant creatures ended, and the world became erily silent.

-[ Year 1265 ]- (1998)
The Tripower Nation is declared "Kings of Trade", as the invention of the airship caused a large increase in "business" and the mideval stockmarket.  This title was prevously held by Vector for the past centuries.  Ganon Vector, bloodline ruler of Vector was unpleased.  War was declared by Vector, against the Tripower.  A 6 month war rolled out, as Vector took control of the land and sea trading routes.  But the war ended abruptly when Kefka, advisor to Ganon, had Ganon assassinated.  Kefka, assumed leader over Vector, declared the end of the war, and asked the Tripower to help rebuild the Vectorian Nation.  The Tripower did.

The enjoy silence after RagNaRok was short lived.  The Tripower State over the years had become the greatest Nation in the World Trade Market, but for this achievement, someone else became the loser.  That nation was known as Vector.  For all of known history Vector had dominated any world trade, they had the best ships, wagons and workers.  But as the eastern world fell into corruption, Vector fell with it.  The Tripower then dominated the world with Makou Technology, and Vector became a nation of the poor.  The bloodline leader, Ganon Vector, was not pleased.  Entreri Bloodstoner of The Tripower travelled to Vector, an invite from Ganon, to ask for the Tripower's help.  A false tale.  Entreri was kidnapped, and the president of the Tripower, Nisstyre Bloodstoner, father of Entreri, sent his friend and head general Hathorne Judge into action.  Hathorne gathered a group of heros, and raided Vector.  Flying in by airship they landed west of the Fortress of Vector, the capital stronghold. The group proceeded to break into the prison, and found Entreri to be captive in the Execution Chambers.  The group found their way to the chamber, and rescued Entreri, and rushed out of Vector.  The war had begun.

Ganon proceeded to raid Tripower towns and cities, and attack anything Tripower.  An assasin appeared by the name of Sephiroth, and began to attack Makou Reactor facilities.  The war continued with small attacks on each other, but minium destruction.  Then the assistant of Ganon, who is known as Kefka, had his boss killed. The killer was Sephiroth, held during a meeting of peace between the Tripower and Vectorians, since Vector had become out numbered and outpowered.  Kefka and the Tripower declared peace, and the Tripower helped Kefka re-develope the Vectorian Country.  And so for a half a year the world knew peace again.

Then rumors began of Kefka and his new general, Warhammer, enslaving Espers.  The Tripower travelled to the Fortress of Vector and declared to see the prisons.  Kefka agreed, and showed the prison full of human prisoners.  Tripower was satisified, and left.  The Tripower sent Hathorne to keep a closer eye on the Tripower, and Hathorne watched as Kefka waved his hands, and the human prisoners turned into esper prisoners.  A magical illusion.  The Tripower then demanded an inspection of a castle north of the city Saint Plattsburg.  They inspected the luxary castle, until a trap door was found in the bar.  A shaft was found, with a holding cell at the bottom, and another tunnel leading west.  They found a note talking about how the espers were being moved back and forth from the prison to the cell during the inspections, and something of Magicite and Magitek Armor.  The group followed the tunnel west, and found themselves in the prison.  Kefka was there to greet them, with a big smile on there face.  The group faught their way back to the castle, and left Vector, to see their peace agreement and help, had only helped a mad man.

-[ Year 1266 ]- (1999)
Kefka had spouted nothing but lies.  As the Tripower helped Vector rebuild its nation, Kefka worked on his new technology, Magitek.  Using the magical potiency of the Esper Race, Kefka found a way to harness its engery to power large machines that you could ride, and came with an assortment of spell weapons.  A massive war then began, as the Tripower put their best weapons up against Vector's best.  The Trade Routes were once again seized, and war plagued the lands.

A new war had begun with Vector, one against Kefka and his madness.  He had insulted the Tripower by gaining their trust and aid.  Then with the money of the Tripower, began the mass killing of espers for some evil purpose.  Nothing was known of the purpose.  Then the statue of Nisstyre disappeared from Westbridge, and the rumors began that Vector stole it.The Tripower sent Hathorne after it, with his group of heros.  It wasfound in the top of the fortresses, guarded by a massive iron creature known as The War Machine.  The group defeated it, and rescued the statue. They returned to the cheers of Westbridge, but it was only a diversion.Minli, assistant of the Tripower President, Leader of the Nytek Corperation, and Controller of Torregiano was kidnapped.  The Tripower once again prepared an attack on Vector.  Once again Hathorne and his group of heros raided Vector, and found Minli being kept in a pit under the Execution Chambers.  They had experimented on her.  The group fled the fortress  under heavy fire.  Minli was rescued, and returned to the Tripower.  A short silence once again fell over the world.

Just after the new year, on a quiet night, a large ship slammed into the main dock in Port Torregiano.  Two metal beasts jumped off the ship along with a group of Vectorian Soldiers.  The two beasts made their way into the city of Torregiano, and faught their way to Reactor 2.  Hathorne and his heros meet the group, and stopped the group.  The metal beasts were tough, and deadly to a single person, a soldier sat on top of it. This was a Magitek Armor.  Warhammer was leading the group, and slipped by the group.  Hathorne followed him to the control room, and they faught.Warhammer ran away, leaving a bomb behind.  Hathorne sent the group outand tried to defuse the bomb, but to no luck.  The reactor exploded, but Hathorne lived.  Vector slipped out of the port and sailed away.  Then Vector proceeded to block off the Trade Routes to Torregiano, and Westbridge, causing an inflation of prices.  A deal was made between the Church of Strife and The Vectorian Nation, for a tunnel to be constructed between the Fortress of Vector, to the front of The Shattered Keep, at the base of the Olympus Mountain.  This tunnel was to gain access to the lands past the mountain range that split Vector and Torregiano, from the areas of Westbridge and New Thalos.  Slowly Kefka pushed his way into the area, taking over Titan Valley, and Elven Valley.  He attacked the local villages, raided the local keeps, and caused havoc to the area.  Only Strife and Vector knew of the tunnel, so the mystery of how Vector was passing the Legion Army barracades across the borders was unknown.  The Vectorians took over the city of Zozo, and Old Thalos.  The Tripower was begining to fragment, and so major action was  taken.

Hathorne alone took over the Elven Valley, which happen to be his  home.  Fattony, a local mob boss purchased Old Thalos from Kefka  for a heafty price.  Sephiroth took Zozo by force, and sold it back  to the Tripower.  Once again the Tripower was gaining the upper hand.  Kefka, frustrated, sent the entire Magitek Army to take over Westbridge,  and this is were the final show down went.  As the army closed in on  Westbridge, the people and the Tripower fought back, and destroyed the  army, pushing its remains back into the now known tunnel.  The remaining  members of the army fled, leaving only the leaders behind.  The Vectorian  Cash Reserve had run dry, so did the supply of espers.  Kefka was out of  steam and power, and the war ended.  The people celebrated in Torregiano,  one of the biggest celebrations known to its history.  The War against  the Vectorians were over.

-[ Year 1267 ]- (2000)
As the winter of 1266-1267 came to a close, the now poor and beaten Vector made a last ditch effort to take over Westbridge.  They had already suceeded with taking The Titan Valley and Elven Valley, The City of Zozo, and even purchased Old Thalos from a local Business Gentlemen by the name of Fattony.  But as the remains of the Magitek Army marched into Westbridge, their forces were obliterated by the people, and Vector was without an army.  Vector declared defeat, and withdrew itself back into the borders.  Zozo was lost to Sephiroth, and sold back to the people.  Old Thalos was taken by the Tripower, as well as the Elven Valley.  The War came to an end, and a silent peace calmed the land, as everyone's attention returned to another threat, Ragnarok.

-[ Year 1268 ]- (2001)
Two large meteors fell from the sky one winters evening.  The first fell onto the farming community of New Ofcol, obliterating the city.  The second fell far north of Vector, into wilderness.  Soon after a plague broke out, very similiar to the plaque of 820s.  Once again it spread through the lands, killing thousands.  Another search for the cure, which strangely came from Sephiroth, who was believed to had created the plague.  The world reclaimed its health, and a deep silence feel over the world.  The Tripower Nation, in agreement to a contract written in 1249, would now release the once "City-States" back into their own governments.  The Tripower held an election, and Factions took over the Tripower Countryside.  The Tripower itself receeded to keeping the land only north of the mountain spines.

Now that the continent of the Great Realms was once back into a state of peace, the Tripower brought up the issue of a forgotten subject, named RagNaRok.  The Tripower called a meeting to Red Steel, a global meeting point of nations, located near Torregiano.  All the heads of the nations joined, including Kefka and the Vectorian Nation.  Nisstyre lead the meeting, which he had called on the request of his guest speaker, Sephiroth.  He had something to say about RagNaRok, and what it meant.

He first explained about a time before known history, and the year 500. Using his powers he opened a window to the past, to the year 100, a year in which a massive slaughter had begun, when a glowing orb appeared in the sky.  It was followers versus followers, as those who were known as heretics were killed.  Sephiroth's little window showed a member of the Harpers wandering into a village, full of followers of Cyric.  The followers of Cyric dragged the Harper off the horse, and disembowled him.  Sephiroth stopped the visions, and continued.  He explained how the Great Realms was a testing grounds for Elder Gods in training, and that his god had been once an Apprentice, training on this ground.  The slayings of the year 100 was the cause of the first RagNaRok, which was somehow stopped.  He explained that RagNaRok was the sign of his god's resurrection, and his reclaim to the Great Realms and Toril.  He told of how when the rock hits the world, its energy will be given to the Apprentice, who will rise and reclaim the world.   He explained of The Great Wall, the magical barrier that was placed around the world by Ao himself, to keep the Apprentice from leaving the plane of excistance, and how when the rock strikes that will also vanish.  And with this, Sephiroth left Red Steel, vanishing back to Mahn'Tor.  The Tripower, and others discussed their actions.

The Vectorians didn't believe Sephiroth, and would take no part in RagNaRok or the apprentice.  Edgar and Saber Figaro declared they would help out as they can, but did not believe of the Apprentice, nor that the destruction of Westbridge would cause them any harm, being that their city was in the western lands.  Everyone else said the same, and the meeting ended, leaving the Tripower with the main task of Ragnarok.

-[ Year 1269 ]- (2002)
A year of silence as the factions took hold of their townships. The Tripower reclaimed Titan Valley, which was still under Vectorian occupation. The reason: the land was needed for the Tripower's next invension of The Makou Gate. This massive device allowed airships to travel great distances in a short matter of time, using "Universal Limbo", a plane of existance that is believed to connect all physical planes together. It was originally a joint project of the Tripower and Heifong Empires. As connections between all the nations of the Great Realms are being built, knowledge of this invention is slowly spreading. In the future it will even be possible to travel to the Forgotten Realms.

And then on a silent night, a peice of RagNaRok broke off, and destroyed the city of New Ofcol, a farming community northeast of Westbridge.  A wake up call to those who had forgotten about RagNaRok, which had laid dormant since before the war.  The Tripower inspected the now crator of Ofcol, as another peice fell off and disappeared into the northern lands.  The night brought a cold wind, as an odd stranger appeared in Market Square, a cloaked figure, who called himself "Thunder", laughed and opened up a small box. The stranger disappeared, as the people in the square suddenly became ill.

They called it Hemelia, a nasty plague that slowly ate away its victim into a pulp.  It spread like a wild fire, even closing into Vector.  The Tripower once again sprang into action, and put out a Bounty for information about where the plague came from, and for someone to create a cure.  Many groups of wizards and scientists set out to find a cure, which suspcially came from Sephiroth himself, as he was affected by the plague.  Thousands died in the Hemelia death, but the survival rate was higher than death, as the cure helped everyone.  And as the last hemelia case was cured, the world went into a deep, long silence.
