prayers for a dying monk

The Order had clashed with the warriors of Shar protecting Belldandy's escape. Their defensive position had entrenched them within the body of the confrontation. The warriors of Shar were fierce creatures with the head of a dragon the body of a lizard and the temperament of a caged weasel. The Order fought them back but Belldandy's action must have triggered their anger; after her escape the warrior engraved. We had been on the Fields of Shar previously and the dragomen where never like this before. The fight had drained a lot of effort; yet The Order had successfully withstood the attack and had suppressed the warriors aggression. What ever she had done she was keen to have hidden the body of the unbinding ritual from the Order.

Since the battle The order had been trying to play catchup, a game they were not used to playing. The group had gathered at the temple every night in numbers for the past week. They had become stuck with something that seemed so simple. Restore the dying monk.

The dying monk would likely help them with the unbinding ritual. The Nexus Monk himself had proven less than helpful. But the dying monk fought for the words to speak to the group. The group felt the task of freeing the gods slipping from their gasp. Psycho sensed the growing tension within the group and so he ventured to Material Plane and within The Temple of Mask and knelt before Mask's statue and began to pray.

'Oh Mask, Lord of the Shadows savior of The Nexus Temple and the City of Shade please hear my prayers. When we last spoke I asked about the unbinding ritual. I have had significant difficulties preforming the ritual and my men are growing weary. I implore you to again speak with us and help us to reach the Nexus Library. We have fallen behind and without guidance I fear that our resources may not hold, and we will be forced to remove our camp within the Shadow Temple. We still maintain our pledge to free the god and restore Magic and Order to the realms again.'

the true archway

Again Mask disappeared from the group's vision.

Only this time the group found themselves being folding into the fabrics of time and space. Within moments the entire group that was gathered within the temple found themselves on another plane of existence.

Mask himself had become a bit more tangible. We must be close to his actual resting place.
'I am not sure if this will suffice your question, but '
'When you have the required components to preform the ritual come here.'
'This is where the true archway lies.'
'It doesn't look like much but if you preform the ritual correctly here you will find your path to the Nexus Library.'

The information Mask had given them had been invaluable. The entire group sat in silence as their final question had been answered. They all stared at mask in anticipation of what would happen next.

'It has been a great effort to sustain myself away from my body.'
'I must leave again but you gathered hear today are our best hope.'
'Stay vigilant and I wish to see you all again soon.'

His time on the plane had expired and Mask's form began to  deteriorate into shadows on the ground. As he faded, the group discussed what they had learned.

It would give them a new foothold and reenergize their efforts.

Psycho and his Knights returned to camp, to write down all they had seen.

Behold the virtues

Mask responded to the amazement 'I can sense you don't believe me, I will be at the High Monk.'

With that Mask vanished from the clouds.

The group ran to the monk, killing several Legandary Vesserab along the way. When the arrived they saw him. Mask stood at the High Monk still holding the four virtues.

When the group reassembled Mask knelt before The High Monk.

The monk acknowledged Mask's virtues and handed him a shiny black key.

The group had only once more question remaining, and it had better be a good one. The concern of how to reach the Nexus Library was at the tip of their tongue, but  it was important to ask the question the proper way.

The group had some more discussion before they were ready to ask their final question.

The decided the best way to the shadow realm and the nexus library was through the unbinding ritual.

Psycho asked their final question. 'Can you show us the unbinding ritual?'

Mask again chuckled at this response. 'I can not show you the ritual directly, because it is a very delicate process.' 'I can however show you where the true archway is '

second question

The answer had been simple and to the point. The translator was beyond our current ability. He would be located within the shadow realms itself.

While the book would contain valuable information it was still out of reach.

The group again huddles up and discussed the answer to their question in an attempt to focus the coming questions. It would be pertinent to not waste the remaining questions on information we could not use yet.

After discussion had slowed again it was Psycho who spoke the groups question. 'We have been able to locate two of the four virtues; Temperance and Fortitude.' 'How can we demonstrate the remaining virtues to the Head Monk.'

A quite murmur spread over the group in anticipation.

'So you want to know how you can demonstrate Wisdom and Justice to the High Monk?'

It was not only Psycho that replied to this 'Yes' 'Yep'

'Yes' and 'Indeed' could all be heard in response to the God's question.

Mask produced two items.

Psycho was amazed at his own shortsightedness.

'I think these might work ' The group had tried similar items but stood amazed.

first question

As the group gathered closer to Mask he spoke

'I do not have much time on this plane of existence'
'I will be able answer only three questions about the temple.'

The group that had gathered around, namely Belldandy, Inigo, Psycho and Order Knights Xzar and Raistlin. The group quickly decided that they would devise the questions together  and attempt to answer some of their most difficult questions. Of all the questions that they could ask it would be difficult to boil it down to only three, but the group was quick to decide on a few.

When the group had decided the first question it was Psycho who spoke for the group.
'Okay I believe we have come to some consensus'
'Before I ask the questions I want to say Thank you for hearing our prayers.'

'The time is nearing and you are all growing wearing of the circles. I hope to bring back the hope.'

'We appreciate the help and are dedicated to freeing you from your prison and breaking the spell plague.'

'Our first question is regarding the Book of Shade Magic.'
'How do we reach the person that can translate the book?'

Mask chuckled at the question before he spoke again

'A great question, but I'm sure the answer is not what you want.'

mask appears

No sooner than Psycho had situated Hannibal's shackles he got an urgent message from his team stationed at The Shadow Temple. Raistlin contacted Psycho clearly and with a twang of surprise in his connection.

'My Lord, please come quick there is something important happening at the temple. A Ghost of Mask has appeared before  the camp and is asking for those leading the effort to rescue him.'

'You have done well brother! I will be there ASAP.'

'I have already prepared transport for you.'

Within moments Psycho was transported to the base of The Shadow Temple. There indeed was Mask standing within the clouds, near the weeping child.

Mask was not nearly as clear as the signal Psycho had recked from Raistlin. The God was a fragment of his truepower,  still locked away within The Shadow Realm. Even in his weakened state he was a sight for sore eyes.

That meant not only was it not too late to save the gods, but also that they wanted to return.

As Psycho drew close he saw the Knights of the Order were not the only group to notice Mask's presence.

a prize to bring home

He ran to a large room opposite the charging golem. Upon entering he lay a thick grease at the mouth of the room, and then using a pair of dragon wings he took his position hovering above the doorway. The Golem came through the door without hesitation and slid from the entrance into the wall at the other side of the room.

The Golem was on his back flat, the blow had stunned it but a fury was building inside the golem. Psycho quickly dumped more grease over the golem. Now directly overtop the golem Psycho spoke. 'The best way to stand between a rock and a hard place is off to the side.' The golem furious thrashed as it tried to stand again and again only to fall.

The grease was now too thick the golem could not gain enough friction to thrash so it lay on the ground helpless. If there was a golem here then there must be more to the temple than he should handle alone.

Psycho with his wits back took a look around the room. He saw a ladder going up into darkness above with a partially collapsed covering. At the foot of the ladder was an unconscious hecuva. He looked hungry, yet incredibly strong.

Psycho decided to cut his adventure short and return to the Heart of the Keep while he was still ahead. The Hecuva he would bring back with him.

As Psycho clasped the shackles upon the undead he stole much of the undead's freedom. The Shackles were just the first part of the soul binding process. The deep binding came from the gauntlet, Psycho reached into the hecuva's unconscious mind and pulled forth a rough cut gem. Psycho was able to control the undead even unconscious with the gem.

The skeleton rose and began his march back to the Heart of the Order

if a golem spots run like hell

Psycho had gotten most of them on the lowest level with his Nexus Stone. The remaining liches and undead were dispatched with his holy maces. The Luminus glowed in the dark and struck the undead with such force some of the undead instantly turned to dust on the walls.

Angry spirits of the bodiless and of other foul creatures shrieked a cry of alarm. The cry made the very walls visibly shake. The dust unsettling from the walls with the sound hung in the air trying to find footing before finally floating down to rest upon the ground. With the cry also came a rumbling from the floor above. Heavy footsteps. They suggested it was no undead creature to still carry such weight.

He didn't have to consider what it could be for long before a large stone golem appeared at the end of the hallway. His size was massive as he easily filled the walkway. Psycho wondered how it could even move with its size in the small halls.

But move it did, and man that son of a bitch was fast!  The golem looked like the end of the hall was closing in on him; a solid wall of rock charging at him from the end of the hallway. Psycho did the only thing he could thing of run

out of the shadows and into the dead

When Psycho entered the temple he saw that it was quite clearly a temple belonging to the Zhentarim. The Black Cloaks hat hung from the walls and the likeness of anshoon were clear giveaways. The Temple had been abandoned.  Long ago abandoned there was a thick dust that hung on most of the stones. The doorways were however full of scrapings and a could stench that was mistakably undead. The stench was nothing like a rotting corpse, still teaming with life and smells from when it was once alive. The smell of the undead was thin and putrified it smelled like burt hair mixed with old socks.

As Psycho Turned the corner he saw a hallway full of hungry walkers accompanied with lichees. They had sensed him almost as fast as he had seen them. But he was always prepared for the undead.  Infact in recent years they had become somewhat of a fascination of his.

Psycho quickly pulled *The potion of an Angel from his bag and quaffed it. He began to sing, the voice was no longer his own but the voice of the Heavens.

'Come to me my children,
Lay your head down at last,
The days have been hard and night has come fast
Your time is undone,
Your souls have no path'

As his song finished you could literally watch the souls  rise out of the undead and lichee. It rose out from their  Rrise out of the undead and lichee. It rose out from their  bodies and began to float. The black figureless shape hung  out of the chest of the undead like a ballon tied upon their hip.

Psycho Breathed in deeply before he pulled out a Nexus Stone.  He watched as the souls floated through the air to be consumed by the dark stone.  During his monk training he had become familiar with the Nexus Stone, but he was still learning much of its uses.

step away from The Temple

After months in The Shadow Temple Psycho`s patience had been growing thin. Been growing thin. By his own admission he had killed more of these worms than the Elder Monk had led him to believe even existed. Psycho had counted his days total at 21 Legendary Veserab. Psycho told the Head Monk that it was time he travelled outside of the temple. The Elder Monk again reminded Psycho that his journey from apprentice to guardian would would succeed only when he posses the 4 virtues. He prayed to the gods to give him insight into his attaining his other virtues.

As soon as he stepped from the temple, a flood of senses returned. He received a mental note from Crovax about  a storm brewing within the Moonshae Islands. 'A stone  wall has broken open along the Moonshae seaboard you should  investigate it.'

Psycho was ready and happy to leave the temple. The Head  monk had proven too tight lipped. On top of the Monks  and the Order Psycho also had two books he needed to concern  himself with. The Tome of Endless Pages he had given Tsaroth and now a book of Shade Magic.

Psycho Set off from the Shadow Temple and traveled to the Moonshae Islands. He had learned much as a monk and was looking forward to putting some of it to use. By the time he approached he saw the massive storm brewing.

The Storm came on quick and strong, the sea which was normally calm and beautiful was now a dark monstrous wall of freezing waves threatening to sink any boat that would dare travel upon its hungry waves. Finding the temple wall without knowing it was there would have been very difficult.

Plans

Meanwhile in Ror's office, Ror finished the last of the intel reports. The last one informing him that one of the esper tribes had a radical leadership change by murder. Keeping an eye on what remained of esper society here was something Ror valued. After all, Vector was always nearby. Always on the mind...

Done with his work for today, he stood up and started pacing around  his room while thinking. He found that walking around improved thought. He was brooding on something. Something which he had discussed with Aneh before, but still...

All life came from the lifestream and was energy. Magic too came from the lifestream and was energy. Espers, highly magical, consisted out of energy as well. Magitek and makou were ways of harnessing energy. In his mind he drew lines between the facts, spinning a web of relations. Everything came from the same source. So then, he thought, so are you, Kefka.

It was a devious plan, one that had worried Aneh, but Ror had good faith in it as it was in essence fairly simple. After he had acquired many pieces of Kefka's armour, he and Psycho found out there was more to them than met the eye. Kefka had somehow latched onto them. And to prevent the bloody armour from re-assembling, Ror had boxed and locked away every  piece separately and put under 24 hours surveillance. Safe and sound in the Tripower, but yet, it was a temporary fix. A final solution needed to be found. He had tried to destroy one piece, but it had been an extremely  tough deal. A dangerous deal.

But there is a way, thought Ror, Kefka's soul is not the problem, but the key to the solution. Lifeforce is energy, and Kefka's power was stolen from the espers. All I need to do, is to take back what was never his...

He stopped before the map of Cruoris and narrowed his eyes when they fell on the Vectorian Empire on the map. When I have back what you stole, Ror thought, I will annihalate Vector along with ever man, woman and child that supports it. There shall be no quarter...

A knock on the door broke Ror's concentration and the rage ebbed quickly away. Fixing his composure, he said, "Enter." And the door swung open, revealing a young recruit.

"Sir! It is I, sir, Robin? " said the boy slightly nervous.

Ror waved his hand in the go-on-go-on motion and Robin explained he  had been assigned to watching the DAQ in the basement during Rors shifts. Ah yes, thought Ror, "In case something changed, " interjected Ror. The boy nodded and Ror smiled. "Finally. " He took his coat off the peg and stepped past the boy into the hallway. "Well, what are you waiting for? Tag along and give me your report as we walk to the lab. I don't have all day, you know. "

The young recruit gulped, "Yes, yes, sir! " And hastened after Ror.

the first step on a long path

Psycho had been in Athktla in the library speaking to Tsaroth about the book that Wrack had given him a few weeks before.  The book had been harder to coax into translation that Psycho had previously believed.  Even the robot which had translated so much before had no luck.  Psycho had another idea but it would require more than magic or wisdom.  It would require blood.

Psycho of course had tried blood, the book never stained or absorbed anything but ink. The pages stayed fresh and perfect.  Psycho had even tried to rip out a page, but as he hypothesized the pages were not simply bound into the book. The book was an entity in and of itself.  The parts of the book such as pages, bindings, and the cover did not make the book, the book had made the pieces to facilitate its being.  The book was very much alive, and Psycho would no sooner harm the book than a fellow member of his brotherhood.

While Psycho was pondering how to use the book, he got a very interesting tell from a wizard

'I know you have much knowledge of the Moonshae Isles.  I do, Perhaps we can be of some assistance to each other. I feel with some effort between us we can make  progress into freeing the old gods.'

Psycho had indeed spent much time in the islands, but when Corleone called Psycho he had no idea how far down the rabbit hole they could really go.  The weaver of Fate had plucked his cord and called him to further investigate the islands than he or any other had before.

Current Character Descriptions - Psycho Sin

Before you stand a mass of souls swirling and diving. The colors and sounds are almost overwhelming pushing you back as elves and orcs lost souls battle over control of the beautiful creature before you. The body is surrounded by black flames, they seem to burn into your armor attempting to draw your soul into the collective insanity contained in the eternal entity of psycho. Without hesitation the common that surrounded you has blossomed into beauty. The rancid corpses around dance and the mud under your boots gleems. When there are flowers they bloom. Psycho is in perfect balance with the dead and living feeding and spreading beauty both in life and death.

He stands before in Radiant Red Armor, a large tribal dragon is etched into his armor along his flanks created with powerful magic. His Black Flames dance around his arms and shoot up his weapons. This Esper seems to overcome vulnerabilities to weapons and is ready to Mobilize against the forces of Evil.

written in magic

Sliver had recognized the runes as those of our Order. The truth  was that the inks that the Order used for its most secret documents were derived from old and lost magic inks.  The inks were not written upon the page they were placed through mentally acuity and emotional will.

wMuch like any other spell the writer would have to have full control  over his mental and physical ability.  The experience was not entirely pleasant and the older inks such as this one often left the writer  mentally drained, and physically ill.  Whomever had prepared this part of the book had paid a heavy price to hide its information.  The Order's private inks required much less physical expenditures and they were extended from a single mental force to be group friendly.

Wrack's book held no such modifications.  Any who would wish to  read it would need a certain level of physical connection with the  writer.  This additional cost Psycho believed could be found in  the boy's blood.  Once the book was paid it would be encouraged  to share with it's self with the reader.

The pages would provide a vision into the life of the writer. More than a vision the book would fill the reader with personal memories of the writer, ripped straight from their head. Once the book became familiar with the reader or the writer the subsequent costs of using the book would be lightened to some degree.

Psycho realized he had been staring at the book for too long. 'The book you have is called a vision book. They are quite rare because of the cost to the writer.  If this is your father's  book there may be much about him that you did not know.'

'I only knew him as a farmer, not any sort of wizard.'

'I will require more time with your book before we can read what is written beyond your ink.  I can assure you I will hold your book the highest level of respect  for both you and your father.  If my suspicions are correct this may hold some answers for you about his past.'

'I can tell you what it says on the cover Versel Turasjir Di Mitne Nakta It loosely translated to Greater Book of Candle's Keep. I can assure you it is no ordinary spell book.'

written in ink

Wrack explained to Psycho that the  book had belonged to his father.  It held incredible sentimental value and its was obvious that Wrack had given the book to few if no other people.

Psycho knew the book was no book of any farmer. Draconian was not only a very old language but a difficult one as well. The pages appeared to be made of fine parchment, and contained simple ink writing at the start of the book.  The written words were a journal, that held little details about Beglos's true past.  It contained records of the season's harvest and the price each  crop received for the harvest. The notes were detailed but  was ultimately banal.

After the farming records written on tear stained pages was what could only be Wrack's own writing.  It dictated the horrors that the Kobolds inflicted upon the village.  The pain that Wrack felt was evident on the pages, not just in his writing but because the book was magical.

Flipping past Wrack's personal information Psycho realized that there was indeed more to this book than first impressions would initially give off.  The pages seemed infinite in number, each page of equivalent parchment quality, color and weight. Turning the  page did not advance the reader through the book. Each page was  at the very center of the book with no apparent numbering.

The pages beyond the handwritten journal was filled with runes that floated and changes on the page. These were the true reason they had brought him the book.

introductions to Wrack, and his book

Psycho had been expecting Sliver when she arrived, but when  she entered Psycho could tell she was not alone. She had  brought with her, someone that Psycho did not know. If the bug had brought him with her to Athkatla then he must be a strong candidate for membership.  The city was a sacred and hidden place, the enchantments built into the city would assure Psycho that there the guest was unable to use illusionary magic. Many  of the members had not been seen the walls of the city.

'Sliver, my most trusted Knight, a pleasure to see you as always.'

She held a red rose up and placed it upon the table next to Psycho. The two of them did not speak about the rose, as it was unspoken  that they would have private matters to discuss after the guest.

Psycho walked over the the door, opened it and saw a human of no more than 25.  His hair was cut short and although he was  young life shown itself in his eyes and on his face.  His Blue eyes were not just familiar they were nearly identical to two other men that Psycho knew. Purhaps there was more to this young man than any first impressions could provide. 'Please come in, there must be something important for Sliver to have brought you here.'

The young man nodded and produced a book as he stepped into the  Library. The book was bound in brown leather with symbols that Psycho recognized as draconian.

One Enemy Shines

Such an eventful couple of days. Sliver had felt things a dutiful bug shouldn't have to feel, endure the stupidity of hatred, and discovered something from her clans history that was brought back home. All these emotions boiling inside caused the bug to really reflect on its feminine side, a side Sliver had long ago pushed to the side as a distraction, and well... A danger at times.

Back in New Thalos, Sliver roamed the museum of statues waiting for the messenger to arrive. It shouldn't be long. He would be curious, the messenger had simply been Sliver's way of giving time to sort out the odd storm that brewed in the bugs head. Things like the rose... Such a silly token. Who disappears and leaves a rose behind? What was that man thinking? Maybe he was just trying to get under the bug's 'skin'. But Sliver couldn't shake the feeling that something had happened in that encounter. Something was different about it? And then whispers of him leaving them from sources? By the Gods, could that mean that Sliver was right? There was hope in the man? Tingles of excitement trailed up the bugs back as the messenger arrived. Sliver read the simple words and uttered a transportation spell.

Upon arriving at the library Sliver quietly walked to Psycho. The rose previously frozen in time by the bug was taken out and displayed. Hiding true feelings that had not quite been explored, sliver speaks... Simple words, that held the weight of important decisions to come.

'There isss hope among the dead... One enemy shhhinesss...'

notes from girls

Psycho had just stepped foot  in the Library of Athklata when the young girl approached him. Upon the sight  of her he knew what she was, and who had sent her. Sliver had always had known his flavor of messenger.   The girl was young fresh and pure As she breathed  you could see her skin flush from the fresh blood  pumping through her and into her now flushing face.

The sheer beauty of the girl could only mean that  Sliver wanted something from him.  What he would find  in the letter would likely have a request that was  above and beyond any simple matter.  As Psycho took  the message from the girl he saw indeed that the  letter was bound with a thick wax bearing the bug's  ring. Sliver's note was short and to the point.   There was an important matter that his most trusted  Knight needed his personal attention with.  Usually  Psycho assumed the patrol was in some mortal danger,  but he was not entirely sure this time.   Fighting, Killing, and the blood spilled in battle was so  permanent in the lives of mortals. Psycho's eternal struggle  had seen more blood and death than he would care to share with anyone in a lifetime.  But he was happy to  sacrifice his time to protect and serve his Order, he was  even happy to bleed for them, but some business cost  more than blood and sweat.  He would have to see  what Sliver wanted, she was his favorite and he was sure  it would have to be good.

After the night was through he sent his reply to Sliver by  means of the messenger girl. He sent her with a letter sealed with the stamp of his Penguin Invasion ring. When she left Psycho the flush from her face was gone,  her face was colorless and  there was a sweat was upon  her brow.Psycho's response was even short than the initial  message.

'I have returned to the library.'

ghost of the future part 3

"The streets need protection, and a force strong enough to stand up to vector when they return. And I am sure they will come back with  force.  Vector is supported by the agents of evil, and during the  invasion the attacks against the Radiant Heart had come most strongly, from The Order of Long Death, and Alsin. What puzzles me is that Alsin  was been publicly championed by the Tripower for his efforts. Even  though his efforts were ... killing members of my Order.  If he is  a member of the Tripower how can you say you will support us when you have no Armed force, and your Champion slaughters my Order?"

Psycho knew most of the answers before asking the questions but he wanted to hear how Ror would respond.

Ror took a moment to respond and simply said, "The Tripower does not control its citizens, they can be good or evil, and Alsin is no different. I heard that he was only defending himself from your people invading his house. And as for you support I take it you mean some kind of alliance between our forces?"

"The Order can not be allied with any who would allow the forces of evil to grow and flourish.  But if the Tripower did train some capable of fighting, their effort against the Vectorians next time  could prove a valuable asset."

The entire encounter had left Psycho wondering if the Tripower  and the Keepers really had utilitarian purposes for Westbridge.

By the time Psycho had recounted all that had happened in the past month the bartender of the Crescent Star had closed up and brought Psycho a total of four bottles of icewine to drink. He was not quite drunk, but the wine clung to his breath as he spoke to the bartender.

"You are a good man, and a damn fine bartender. I apologize for  keeping you away from your family and loved ones through the night."

"Family and loved ones! Ha! Today my friend you were the closest I got to any loved one."

Psycho dropped a satchel of platinum on the table with more coin than the bartender could easily lift.

"That is for you, and the key to the back room." The bartender threw Psycho a small key and said,  "As long as I am working consider this bar you own."

Psycho took the key in hand, stood up, and returned to Athkatla.

ghosts of the future part 2

Psycho located the Theater that Ror wanted to see. It was colorful and the building felt full of life even though there were no patrons inside. The many colored lights were controlled from a workbench covered with wires extending into the wall and up each light. The chairs were red velvet. Ror asked Psycho to wait in the seats for a bit while he checked out backstage. Ror spoke to the ticket counter and was allowed behind stage. After a bit the house lights dimmed and the curtains opened. Ror burst onto stage."Ladies and Gentlemen Boys and Girls, Citizens of all ages!"

The words were not important, the presentation and stage presence was incredible. This would be one of Tripowers major reconstructive efforts of Westbridge. Psycho felt if they were going to construct a school for citizen's primary education and a theater; A secondary school for advanced studies would also be appropriate. Psycho believe The public would benefit strongly from research quality labs, and that maybe the public labs could bolster private research.

Along with the trip to the theater there was still much business to discuss. It turns out that Ror had his sights on much more than just the school. Ror asked him how much he had really seen when Kefka exploded into shards. He had been looking for shards of Kefka's armor! It was not likely that anyone from within the Order had told Ror about their search for shards as well, and he certainly did not know of the pieces tucked away in any of the private labs.

Whatever the Tripower was up to Psycho had a feeling Vorcet had been working his magic with the Tripower behind a veil of secrets. Ror may or may not have had another agenda, either way Ror was not prepared to share the actual problem with the Order.

Ror spoke a bit more before Psycho decided to test  the relationship between the two.
