Current Character Description - Icehawk

Standing an easy 5'9", his shoulders are strong, but his frame looks wiry. His clothing seems mundane, yet well made, a simple sleeveless shirt underneath a vest with a pair of breeches. The vest's backside is embroided with a shoulder-to-shoulder hawk, mouth open in a call. Beneath the vest, his tool-belt is hung with pouches of his crystals and components. Behind and off to one side, a bag hangs off his hip. He carries a toolcase that seems much too small for the multitude of things that he pulls from it's depths. Upon each wrist is a wristlet studded with crystals, and his collar bears a few more. From far, he appears to have a strange, scaled texture to his skin, yet up close, it seems smooth and normal. Could it have been a trick of the light?

Legacy IV

The feather swiftly ran over the paper as Ror wrote his report. Dipping it into ink every now and then, he kept a steady pace with little to no staining. A blue-white crystal was lying on a pile of paper in front of him. He was using it as a paperweight... And drawing its shape onto the paper as part of the report. After half a hour of writing, he laid down the feather and let the last of the ink dry. His hand moved over to the crystal and touched it. 'How fares the test?' asked Ror by thought, and the voice of one of his assistants told him in his head that it went well. He nodded to himself and let go of the crystal. And turned the page, blowing a bit against the paper to dry the last of the ink. He then picked up the feather again and resumed his writing, outlining the test-phase. By the time he had reached the bottom of the paper, another half hour had passed.  He placed the feather back in the ink well and waited a bit before filing the report. He tucked it under his arm and pocketed the crystal before walking out of his office. Down the hallway, he opened the door to Zeltor's office and placed the report on his desk, before walking back to the hangar.

In the hangar his assistants were testing the properties and spellstrength of the other crystal. As Ror approached, he took the crystal from his pocket and then placed it in the slot across the other. 'Still everything faring well?' A curt nod answered his question and Ror smiled.  He opened his uniform and removed a folded paper sheet from a pocket, handing it over to the nearest assistant. 'Infuse this spell in the both of them,' he said, 'I will be at the archive. If anything is amiss, let me know.' He then turned and walked away. The assistant that had received the paper unfolded it and read the spell, his eyes enlarging, 'Damn!' This caught the attention of the other, who looked up from his work and turned his head to see, 'A protective spell? Oh, nasty!' The first sighed, 'Safety for everything I guess. Alright, let's get to work.'

With a click the magical lock of the door to the archive unlocked and a second later Ror swooped into the room otherwise occupied by dust and cabinets, closing the door behind him. He snapped his fingers and placed an instantly created ball of light on a cabinet top, before turning his attention to the cabinets themselves. He opened a cabinet drawer and scanned the labels. Closing the drawer again, he opened another drawer and scanned labels once again. He frowned, then picked a file from the cabinet. It said, "RESTRICTION LEVEL 1" on the cover. Ror opened it and leaned against one of the cabinets as his eyes scanned the contents.

'My, my, Throm, I guess rumours were right after all,' said Ror to himself and he smirked broadly,

'You DID experiment with black makou...'

Legacy III

Taking a bite from the sandwich in his hand, Ror tapped the scroll in front of him on the table. The assistant sitting on the left of him was munching on a sandwich as well and nodded at Ror. A large table had been placed next to the magic circle. Ror and his assistants were having lunch and discussing the next step at the same time. The original spells from the journal had been copied over so the assistants each had their own version to study during lunch. The discussion regularly switched to cover other topics, all relating to the work that waited for them. In that regard, the scrolls were a great help. All Ror had to do, was ensure the discussion didn't derail. After a hour or two, the food was gone and most of the discussion had dried up. Ror clapped his hands and stood up, 'Alright people, let's get back to work. You know what to do.' He collected the copies from his assistants and counted them to make sure he had them all. In the meantime the liches had returned and carried the table and chairs away from the circle, while the assistants took up their position and talked through the final details.

This was it then, thought Ror as he returned to his platform. He adjusted his goggles, shoving them back down before his eyes with one hand, the other holding the scrolls. A curt nod to the signalling lich downstairs set the second leg in motion.

They weaved the spells in unisome. As Ror watched, an empowering spell and a spell to complete the motion of telepathy took shape within the circle around the two blue-white crystals created earlier. They were on display in individual holders, side by side. As the Weave was pulled around the crystals, power was instilled in them and a soft blue glow sunk down into them. On the foreheads of the mages drops of sweat started to form as a new spell was weaved: detection of thoughts. Their hand gestures were like a dance that build up magic and pulled the Weave with it. Combining it with another empower spell, the crystals glowed softly once again. As the fine tuning started, his assistants were visibly starting to tire. Fortunately the liches paid attention and replenished their mana. With renewed strength they carried on. They tweaked the weave around the crystals: plucking here and pushing there, they severed and retied certain threads. Until eventually the desired result was reached and they were done.

Shoving the goggles back up with the back of his hand, Ror watched the softly glowing crystals at the center of the magical circle from above. He smirked, 'Alright, well done people! Time for a rest, and then a test...'

Legacy II

Ror crossed his arms, a pair of goggles with darkened glasses on his face. From the first floor platform above the hangar he watched his assistants. A few hours earlier he had woken them up at the first rays of dawn and given them the instructions for a magical circle. By now they had drawn it on the floor of the hangar and Ror had just returned from breakfast with his fiancee. He watched them round off the last of the preparations. Wizards spent their entire lives, or even undead afterlives, to hog knowledge. It allowed them to accomplishing great feats of magic. But Ror was no wizard, he was a sage. And as he watched his assistants, he smirked.

At the edge of the circle large metal plates were raised, shielding off the liches standing behind them. If this was going to drain his wizardry helpers, then the Tripower's undead would feed them the energy they needed to stay alive. At the center of the magic circle was a container with four crystals in it. Two large growing green crystals, makou, the other two similar sized sapphires. All had been placed into a separate holder, makou across sapphire and placed inside the container. Ror signalled to start and the assistants took position in front of the plates, inside the circle. One by one they started spellcasting. Ror watched them move their arms and let the magic flow from one to the other by the help of the magic circle.

When they were synchronized, he signaled for them to start weaving the spell. Spidery words of magic came from their mouths in unisome and filled the air around the container. A harsh light flashed from the four objects inside the container, blinding to the naked eye, but Ror and his assistants wore goggles and the liches stood safely behind protective metal plates. Not a drop of sweat was made as the mages forcefully wove the four crystals together, then split them into two. The brilliant forms merged into two round balls, then quite suddenly spiked outward. Two identical, sharply pointed crystals took shape and when the light faded, Ror removed his goggles and asked, 'And?'

One of the liches stepped from behind the plates and walked over to the container. Opening it, the blue-white crystals inside could be seen. He took them out and fetched a magnifying device from his pocket, studying the both of them. Then, as he put the device away again, he stuck up his thumb to signal success. Ror smiled broadly. The first leg was complete, his assistants were alright, now for the next...

Legacy I

It was past midnight, and a couple of hours away from dawn. In the laboratory of the Tripower, Ror was working. His assistants had gone to bed hours ago, but he was still busy. On the table were a various assortment of crystals. They were selected on colour and quality.  Some were left in their natural state, others had been fractured and polished by a dwarf master craftsman from Torregiano. Wearing soft gloves and an eyepatch with a magnifying glass in it, Ror handled the crystals with great delicacy. On the table were two books. One spellbook, the other a copy of an old scientific journal. Its yellowing pages were a bit damaged, but otherwise in a good state. And more importantly, it was readable. Ror had retrieved the journal from the research archive, previously placed under Throm's authority. Now that Ror was a leader of the Tripower, the secrets of the research archive previously kept at bay, were now his to read and build upon. Throm was gone, but Ror felt like a fish in the water. He turned a page carefully and read the notes. In the back of his mind, he felt the presence of Aneh, dreaming something about bunnies and weddings. He smiled, turning his concentration back to the work at hand.

"I called the first half of the telepathy spell. Using a small, round sapphire, I placed it on a holder," read Ror. Next to it was scribbled in the sideline: Caution: use large gloves and goggles against harsh waves. He mulled and continued reading, "Next I used a glowing green crystal, which emanates harsh waves that are dangerous to the eyes. The following words I incantated as I forcefully wove the two crystals together."

Ror turned another page and before long he went to work...

Log: 02102012 - Ror and Sanria

OOC comment: Log of Ror meeting Sanria for the first time.

Between Brothers [Part 2]

"Icehawk..." "What do you want, Fire?" Ice didn't turn. "I want to know where the hell you've been. People are worried." "Yeah?" Icehawk sneered, "Like who? I can't think of a single person that would." "Like me, ya damn ingrate," Firehawk frowned, "The people of Nytek are looking for you. Eleni isn't looking to happy as of late either." "Psshhh," Icehawk scoffed, "Like she cares!" Firehawk stepped forward, grabbing Icehawk by the front of his shirt and hauling him off the gunning chair. He glared down at Icehawk, snarling. "That woman cares for you! You know it! I know it! Everyone that sees you together knows!" Icehawk returned the glare. "Do they? Do you? I sure as hell don't..." His expression dropped from angry to profound sadness. The voice that spoke wasn't Ice's normal strong voice, but a horribly soft, down-trodden one. "She betrayed me, big brother..." Firehawk blinked, not understanding. "She slept with another man..." Firehawk blinked again. He was lost for words, not expecting this at all. "Sh-... She what?" "You heard me..." Icehawk's voice was still soft. Firehawk released him and looked at him, shocked. "How could she do that to you?" Firehawk was dumbfounded. "Why dont you ask her, I sure as hell dont know. I lo-... I loved her, Fire..." Icehawk collapsed into the gunnery seat and broke into tears. Tundra took the moment to step forward and rub against Ice's legs, trying to comfort his master. He looked at Firehawk, directing a message at him. /He's been like this for a week. I don't know what to do.../ Firehawk nodded at Tundra and looked at his brother. So much they had endured in their lives, yet something like this could never be softened. "Do you need me to do anything for you, little brother?" Icehawk took awhile to respond, "Just let whoever cares know Im alright. I should be back in port in another day or so." "Take all the time you need, Ice." Firehawk turned to leave. "Fire?" He stopped and looked over his shoulder. "Thanks for coming for me." "I'm your brother, it's what I'm here for..."

Between Brothers [Part 1]

*BLAM* Another hovering target fragmented under the intense firepower of the Freons rail guns. Icehawk didn't flinch, smile, or anything else, just looked for the next one. Another target was vaporized, then another. Tundra, his Displacer Beast familiar, sat behind him in the gunnery room, watching him, his expression unreadable. He knew full well what was going on, and he hated seeing Icehawk like this. /Ice, you're going to run out of ammunition soon. Dont you think its about time to stop?/ "I already told you, Tundra, I'll stop when I feel better..." /Yeah... Right.../ Tundra sighed and turned back toward the entrance, he headed down to the helm room, checking the sensors and comm crystal for anything new. Nothing was. He was bored mindless. He and Ice had spent more than a week out here in the middle of nowhere, northwest of Westbridge. Ice's grief over Eleni had drove him to pack up and ship out. For a week, Icehawk had done nothing but stare out at the horizon. Tundra had smelled the salt of tears. But in the past two days, Icehawk had been set to his railguns, eliminating target after target. He had eaten little, and Tundra was worried about him. Just then, something faint blipped on the ping screen. Tundra hopped into the chair to look at it. It wasn't as big as an airship, but it was airborne, and heading in his direction. Tundra knew what it was. A few minutes later, the large form of a draconian came into view. Tundra opened the hatch with his tentacles and waited. Firehawk alighted inside, stooping a little to fit his tall frame. "Where is he?" /Where would you think? At the guns.../ Firehawk nodded and made his way into the ship. Tundra padded softly behind him. They entered the gunnery area together and there sat Icehawk, unmoved, unblinking, and still elminating targets as fast as they launched.

Response

When you return, a single piece of parchment with Eleni's small graceful script lies on the neatly made bed. A box of about three inches cube wrapped in midnight blue paper holds the page down. The note reads: Icehawk------- I understand your decision, but I cannot stay here on the Frost Bite without you. It grows more cold and lonely as each hour passes. If I thought it would make everything all better, I would fill this letter with promises, but I think that would do more harm than good. Know that I love you. I'm so sorry I hurt you... *large ink smudge* I will probably be staying at Elaine's or at my office on the Errant Venture. Both are in Westbridge. If you can't reach me either place, you know there are other means. I need time to think too. I thought... *angry scratchings* I thought I knew better. *weakly penned, a few splotches* I love you. I'm sorry. ------------Eleni. The box contains a little card: +-----------------------------+ | Merry Christmas, beautiful. | | For Icehawk. | | With Love, Eleni. | +-----------------------------+ Beneath the card is a platinum ring engraved with several tiny, intricate snowflakes. [OOC: Find me online sometime to get the ring. :} ]

Insomnia. (A response to The Call.)

[Perhaps a bit late, but here we go.] Another night of restlessness. Eleni had too much on her mind, and her insomnia was becoming more prevalent again. She lay in bed for an hour or so, listening to Icehawk breathe, considering waking him to hear his voice, to talk idly till her mind was eased and she could find a bit of rest, but knowing how hard he works, how much he needed his sleep. She climbed carefully over him and pulled on her black clothes, leaning in to kiss his cheek softly and whisper, "I won't be long," before quietly sneaking out of the Frost Bite. Icehawk had stirred a little, as if to ask her not to go, but Eleni needed some conversation or at least a bit of fresh air. By the grace of Sune, she made it quickly to Westbridge and climbed the stairs of the Market Square Cafe to take her usual thinking spot on the round table on the roof. She'd been hoping to find a friend or even a stranger with whom she could discuss the philosophies of love and truth and self, but the streets seemed oddly barren. Fewer people seemed to be venturing out into the streets at night, perhaps noticing the recent rise in the local vampire population. Even the undead seemed scarce on this night, though. The black-haired, black-clad halfling's skin almost glowed in the moonlight, its pale radiance such a stark contrast to its dark surroundings. Looking out over Market Square, she noticed an odd glow and wondered how she could have possibly missed it when she'd gone through the square. She looked down at it, unable to discern the words or its meaning from where she sat. She jumped from the table and moved silently over to the ledge, staring at the strange light intently for a while, considering whether she should investigate or not. Her decision was made for her though, as a figure moved quickly into the square. In the darkness, she could not be sure but she thought it Kalina, whom she had the pleasure of meeting on a couple occasions. Her interest seemed also to lie in the strange message. Shortly after Kalina moved on, more people, one by one, came to investigate, some Eleni recognized and some she did not, each reacting in their own ways. Her curiosity was becoming too much, her feet itching to pad downstairs and see the message for herself. She could not tell if those reading it had been drawn to it or simply passing by, but there it was, she saw it too, and it was out in the open to be read. Silently, she crept to the square, cautiously glancing about before moving to the enigmatic note. Quickly she read it, her lips curling to a smile as she noticed Sylus's seal upon it. His gentle advice and guidance had helped her greatly in the recent past, and he had earned much respect and admiration, as well as friendship, from her. The message, however, seemed to call to those who had already served him, some warriors of the past she knew nothing about. She walked quietly from the square and headed east, back toward Torregiano and the warm bed that awaited her. "It was not for me," she told herself, considering the call during the long walk home. "He needs people he knows, people who are pure, kind, GOOD. That isn't me. Still..." She turned her eyes upwards, staring at the radiant night sky, feeling blessed to be up at this hour able to see such beauty. In soft prayer, she whispered to the dark expanse, to her friend, "If you need me, Sylus, I am here for you. I may not be the best warrior or the purest heart, but you're deserving of my fealty and respect. If you find me worthy, I am here." She continued her walk home in silent thought, having found no peace of mind, but rather more to consider. Dawn was breaking as she arrived at her lover's home--or was it now also her home. Exhausted from the long walk between the two cities and her lack of sleep, Eleni slunk into bed next to Icehawk, comforted as his arms wrapped around her petite frame, and for a few hours, she slept.

Inconsistency

"Well that is certainly strange..." /What is?/ Tundra looked over at Icehawk as he spoke. Icehawk scratched his chin and turned in the chair toward Tundra. The two were sitting in the cockpit of the FreonIIC. Icehawk had just completed a telepathic conversation using his crystal with yet another Apostle of Sune. "Tundra, do you remember that gnome I made that crystal for?" /Rhea? Sure, you nearly knocked yourself out in the process. If not for-/ "I can't find her anywhere." Icehawk cut off Tundra's bragging. /What do you mean?/ Tundra blinked as he looked at Icehawk. "Ive made inquiries everywhere. Even the members of her order dont know where she is and no ones seen her recently. I meant to see how the crystal was working out for her, so I started asking around casually, but no ones seen her." Icehawk puzzled for awhile. It was true. He had asked Tenchi, Hravngud, and Gazrielle, but in fact every Sunite he spoke to was at a loss to know where she was. Hed been asking around for a couple days. Why would she go somewhere without telling even her fellows? Strange happenings indeed. He stood, stretching his legs, then left the cockpit, walking further aft in the ship. /Where we going?/ Tundra asked, nonchalantly following. "Well as I do with all my inventions, I imbue a magical essence, a signature if you will, that marks it as mine. The crystal I gave her is no different. Maybe I can scrye the crystal's location." Icehawk entered the field lab, walking to a silver bowl filled with a strange liquid. Carefully bringing it off the shelf, he set it lightly to counter-top. /Well it's worth a shot... Are you worried?/ "The situation smacks of something dark. I am not particularly worried, just curious." He took his spellbook from bag he had dropped in the room earlier. Opening it to the spell he needed, he gestured over the bowl. He chanted the spidery words of magic, letting the Weave carry his spell. Completing the chant, he stared into the bowl, concentrating on the specific crystal, willing to know its location. Tundra hopped up, his front paws on the countertop, and looked into the bowl as well. "Well let's see..."

Spoiled Plans

Standing out of her crouch, Rhea eyed the stone before giving a quick nod and setting it into the pouch on her belt. Cinching the small bag, she tucked the ties behind her belt and grinned. The pond shimmered in the sun before her, and with a final glance down its shore she turned and stuffed her hands into her pockets. There was a bounce in her step as she left the park and started down the road toward the jeweler's. Reaching for another pouch on her belt, the gnome slipped her fingers in and withdrew a handful of coins. Eyeing them, she nodded to herself. That should be enough, she figured, slipping them back into the pouch. A few gemstones, a few painted stones, and she would have the makings for another of her creations. She thought of making it mechanical this time, a toy for the children she had seen roaming the Sunite hall. Back in her room she had the metal she would need, but she didn't have the colors of gems she wanted. Turning down an alley as a shortcut, she started to reach for her tablet to prepare her request. With a grin, she let her arms drop back to her sides; she didn't need it any more. The creation Icehawk had given her allowed her thoughtspeech, and she still marveled at such a large gift from a virtual stranger. Little did he know how much it meant -- Suddenly a pair of hands grabbed her from behind, pulling her into the shadows of the alley. There was a flash of motion in front of her and a hand clasped her choker, removing it before she could call out. She struggled, kicking backward and meeting only air as the grip on her tightened. A cloth was pressed over her nose and mouth; instinctively, she took a deep breath, inhaling a strange scent deeply. She coughed, pulling her head backward, and the cloth was pressed closer to her face. Silently she cursed herself for not carrying her dagger, for thinking herself safe without it. Twisting, she tried to pull away, one of her pouches catching and ripping open. The stones she'd collected spilled out onto the ground around her. With a fast motion, her head was pressed forward into the cloth, and she took another deep breath of the strange substance. The alley around her began to spin, and she slumped backward into her captive's grasp as she fell unconscious.

When you wake

[Note: I hope you don't mind this being in second person. It isn't for anyone else's consumption but your own. I don't terribly like acting for other people, but this seemed a likely scenario. And as we can't realistically RP every moment they spend together, consider this role one possible way Icehawk's waking could have gone. Enjoy! --nicoLe] As you lie in your bed, consciousness slowly creeping back to you, you breathe in strange sweet and savory aromas seldom encountered on board the Freon IIC. When you eventually open your eyes and look around the room, you notice a halfling woman sitting cross-legged in a chair near your bed, her black hair pulled back into a ponytail. She is wearing little more than a black tank top and a pair of white panties. Across her lap is a notepad with a handsewn binding of black cloth. The pages are lined oddly, a series of five close lines crossing the page. You might recognize these lines as staves for musical notation. Humming a haunting melody quietly to herself, she quickly jots a few notes down. You could watch her like this for a while if you wanted, as she hardly looks up, enthralled in her own doings. If you do so, she will look up after a few long moments and offer you a broad, gentle smile, setting the notepad down as she gets up and joins you in bed. If you move too much or decide to say something, she'll look up and offer you a small, distracted "Hrmm?" followed by a quick, surprised "Oh!" Clumsily, she will set the notepad down and run to your side. "How ya feeling?" she asks, hopping into bed and planting a happy kiss on your neck. You run your hands over her near-naked body and smile. "Much better now." Your fingers find their way under her tank top, her skin erupting in goosebumps at your eager touch. A slight shiver runs over her body and with wide eyes she tells you, "I've got bread in the mmmrvremmm," her words cut off by your quick kiss. For a short while, she indulges you, letting your hands wander as they will, lost in your kisses. Soon enough, however, a loud ding beckons from the galley, causing her to jump. Most likely, she is quicker than you and races off to check on her bread before you can protest. But if you do happen to be fast enough to grab her, she will ask you simply, "Do you want the ship full of smoke again?" Though you could smell the fresh bread when she opened the oven, Eleni comes back empty handed, a mischievous grin playing on her lips. Wild sex ensues for as long as you see fit. When you are both sated, lying naked next to each other, with a surprising amount of energy, she hops out of bed and runs out the room. She comes back a few minutes later, still deliciously naked, carrying a too-large tray. "Something to fill your belly." She smiles broadly, setting the tray next to you on the bed. Two large metal bowls containing what seems to be an unreasonable amount of pasta and vegtables dominate the tray. Four slices of a dark bread with a light brown spread rest next to a set of large tea cups. "Cinnamon nutmeg tea with a touch of brandy. Pipeweed bread, Teatree recipe, with honey-butter. And my own personal chicken stew. I meant it to be a soup, but people told me it's way too thick. So, it's stew, I suppose. And the bread is better than any you'll find around here. I won't cook like this often. So enjoy it while you can." Even if you try to interrupt her she'll keep speaking, quite proud of her cooking. She climbs into bed next to you and slides her pale, lovely legs under the covers. You pull the tray across your laps and enjoy a wonderful naked lunch or dinner or breakfast, whichever it would when you awoke. :}

Creation of a Gift [Part 3]

He was sweating heavily, a stray thought of activating one of the controls crossed his mind. Suddenly, his hand gripped the side of the table, going white-knuckled. He went limp, knees buckling. Icehawk collapsed to the floor, drained. The intricate manipulation he had performed was something even a greater mage could not have stood for too long. The thump from the body was rewarded with the appearance of Tundra. /Ah slag, he did it again.../ Tundra quickly padded to a container on one of the tables, his tentacles softly opening it and withdrawing a glowing yellow crystal. Stalking back to Icehawk, Tundra places it in Icehawks open hand, laying limp on the floor. /Hey Ice, squeeze, will ya?/ Tundra waited. No response. He visibly sighed. Bending his head down, he wrapped his teeth around Icehawks arm. /Im going to regret this.../ he thought as he bit down. Icehawks hand closed and squeezed, followed by a yellowish flash. The light of the flash flowed up Icehawks arm and over the rest of his body, then slowly sunk into him, dissapating from view. His eyes fluttered open. Tundra released his arm and stepped back. /You did it again. I thought you said youd try not to do it so long this time./ "Ah, crap... Yeah, I tried, but it did take a lot of manipulation." /Yeah, and youre rewarded with that bump on your head./ "True, but its going to work..."

Creation of a Gift [Part 2]

"Nice..." Icehawk set the spell crystal back into the holder. Its fusing had been a success, and he smiled as he begun the next part. Turning to the marked parts of his spell book and journal, he began to weave his hands again. As one hand wove the spell of empowering, the other completed the motions of the telepathy. Icehawk pulled the Weave about the crystal, giving it the power. A soft blue glow sunk into the crystal, the telepathy empowering complete. Icehawk wiped sweat from his forehead and reached to turn to another part of his spell book, the page marked The detecting of thoughts. Icehawk concentrated on it, eyes passing over the words for memorization. The quickness of his reading made it apparent he used the spell once or twice before. He gestured his hands again, reciting the first parts of the spell, building the magic energy needed and pulling the Weave with it. As he neared the end of the spell, he repeated the half-casting, using the empowering to bring the spell to the crystal. The soft glow again sank into the crystal. Both spells completed, no hitches so far. Next came the fine tuning, the tiring work. Icehawk wiped the sweat from his forehead again. True, he was a wizard, but spell casting drained him, he liked physical labor. The crystallization system he had devised had solved this problem, he could blow all his energy at one point, create a bunch of spell-empowered crystals, then rest and recuperate. He envied the powers of those wizards above his stature, but none of them could match the amount of spells he could sling using crystals. Icehawk reached his hands toward the crystal in the holder, weaving with his fingers and losing himself in the strings of the spells. He pondered the threads, puzzled at the twines, all analyzing what would serve his purpose. Finding his enlightenment he began tweaking the Weave about the spells. Plucking here, pushing there, severing and retying at yet another. Slowly, he refashioned the intricacies of the spell, bringing them to his desired result. Satisfied with his modification he withdrew, back away from the crystal.

Creation of a Gift [Part 1]

"Well, now we get to work." /Sure, AFTER you dally around for hours and sleep til noon.../ Icehawk glanced over his shoulder at Tundra, his displacer beast. Tundra was nonchalantly following him as he headed for his lab, intent to start work on his newest creation. The blue-white crystal on Tundra's collar blinked as he thought-spoke again. /Its a wonder you get anything done.../ "All this criticism of laziness coming from a cat?" /Ill have you know cats are very active./ "When theyre hungry?" Tundra paused. /Shut up!/ Icehawk chuckled as he waved a hand over the sensor-crystal near the entrance to the lab, activating the magical light globes placed about the rooms ceiling. He sighed, smiling, as he looked about. Lab tables were scattered about, all kinds of equipment upon them. A lot of the work on his lab being done himself. The satisfied smirk he wore spoke of his pleasure with it. "You gonna assist me then?" Tundra held up a paw, the crystal blinking. /Does it look like I'm cut out to assist?/ "Excuses, excuses..." /Bah!/ Tundra turned gracefully and stalked back into the rest of the ship. Icehawk donned his gloves and goggles, placing his spell book upon the table next to his scientific journal. His exposed fingers danced in the air as he started his first incantation, calling the first half of the telepathy spell. He drew from a draw a small, round sapphire. Placing it on a holder, he donned a larger glove and walked to a large storage container on the wall. He carefully opened the door and reached in, withdrawing a small, glowing green crystal. He pulled his goggles down to protect his eyes from the harsh waves emanating from the crystal. Cautiously placing the crystal upon the same holder as the sapphire, he turned the page on his journal and placed the holder inside a small, transparent case, hardened for just this purpose. Reading again from the journal, he spoke the spidery words of magic and weaved the air about the container. A harsh light flashed from the two objects, blinding to the naked eye, and sweat was visible upon Icehawks brow as he forcefully wove them together. The brilliant forms merged into a round ball, then quite suddenly spiked outward, making sharp points of a crystal. When the light faded, Icehawk removed his goggles and was rewarded with the sight of a blue-white crystal much like the one apparent on his collar. He grinned and took it from the container, taking a magnifying device to it. He smiled even broader, obviously successful. The first leg of the creation was complete, now for the next...

Draconic Restoration Part II

The three Hawks gathered near their parents grave and Icehawk uncovered a small stone in the ground. They fored a triangle, hands outstretched to eachother palm-out. They began to chant a chant long dead to the world, a chant in a launguage long forgotten yet wholely unique. It was a chant of the Draconian Hawks. A pulse in the chant began to not only be felt in the words, but in the ground, a solid beat. The feeling grew stronger. A flicker of flame blinked in Firehawk's palm. A touch of snow began to spin around Icehawk's wrists. A crackle of electricity coursed through Thunderhawk's arms. The three chanted louder, the spell woven tight for so long began to unravel. As the ritual of restoration progressed, another voice could be heard, one so deep and unique. It spoke of the Earth and their father. Their hearts reached out for his long past. But the voice grew stronger than they had heard it before and Icehawk's eyes fluttered open at how the spell felt changed! It wasn't working! What was happening! Suddenly he felt a spasm in his back, then a tearing sensation. His hand remained outstretched as he experieced pain that which he did not expect among this ritual! Wings shot out of his back, large and draconic, and a tail spring out! Icehawk forced his eyes open and saw Firehawk experiecing his pain, agony in his eyes. But another thing was happeneing, Thunderhawk was also changing. Icehawk didn't forsee this! But as fast as the transformation has started, it was over. Icehawk wholy expected to be completely changed back to his orignal, draconic self. But the eyes of his eldest brother told him not. The three heard a voice, the same as they had heard before. "You took these forms to live safely, but you cannot return wholely to yourselves. I am sorry my children, but was has been done can not be wholy undone at your will. I-- I miss you my sons, and I wish you your desires, but you must take what you have. Be happy my sons. I love you." At these words, the three hawks collapsed. Hours later, as they awoke, they began to see what had taken place. The spell had been initiated, but was not able to be finished. The result was, as they discovered, was that Icehawk and Thunderhawk had gained a futional set of wings and tails. Strangely, they retained their human likenesses and upon closer experimentation found that by some feat of magic, the wings could retract to a much smaller size than was able to Firehawk. "Well brothers," Firehawk adressed his siblings, "What do we consider this?" Icehawk thought it over a moment and slowly replied. "I find that it was not really a failure. We have our wings and to what I can gather," ICehawk demonstrated snapping a large board as if it were nothing, "We have our strength. We simply have the cosmetic appearance of humans. This might have been a better alternative I didn't consider. Thunderhawk, I know you did not wish this, what is your take on the matter?" "My take? I came here to help you and in return I've got my stregth and my wings. I'm friggin happy and I say we not nix this and leave here." The three agreed wholy. Icehawk reached into his bag and brought out a gem-studded magical device. After hitting a few buttons, a medium-sized airship appeared right above them. Thunderhawk grumbled about how he had to walk when they could have flown here in that. Icehawk smiled benevolently and boarded his ship with his brothers as they took off into the sunset...

Draconic Restoration Part I

It was cold, and Thunderhawk was bitching. But Icehawk could care less about the cold and cared even smaller for his brother's whining. They had traveled for days to reach this area and no amount of complaining would stop Icehawk from what he wanted-- his wings. To his brothers he had briefly explained his desire but not to both at the same time. Neither Firehawk nor Thunderhawk new the other was coming. But all three brothers were neccessary for the ritual, and Icehawk would have no arguement. They arrived at a clearing in the woods where two stones were standing in the ground. A large scorch mark and the ruins of a burnt building dominated the clearing. In the middle of it all stood Firehawk, staring down at the graves, his large wings seemed to droop as his scaly form wept at the memories of long past. Icehawk suddenly realized Thunderhawk had sneaked off without his knowledge. "Greetings, brother!" Icehawk called out. "Greetings to you too, Ice. Let us do our business and leave. I-" Firehawk choked a moment on his words then regained his composure. "I... I wish to not have to revisit this past too often." Icehawk nodded at this and continued toward the graves. "One thing, brother? How are we to do this?" Firehawk asked. "Simple. We reverse what we put in place." Icehawk answered. "Doesn't that take... well..." Firehawk's eyes narrowed at the thought and he suddenly was very aware at the silence of the creatures in the area. A dark shape shot out of the woods, glinting steel, straight at Firehawk. The large draconian dodged the strike and knocked his youngest sibling to the ground and put his foot on him. "I knew it! It has to involve him!" Firehawk glared down at Thuderhawk. "Yeah and what if it does!? He's still our brother!" Icehawk spat back. "And when were you planning to tell me he was coming?" Thunder growled up at Icehawk. "You had this all planned didn't you!" Icehawk merely nodded. "Well we're here, and we know what must be done." Firehawk looked at his two long-human brothers. "I tell you I will be hapy to be a family again." Icehawk looked back. "You have no idea..."
